The God who builds vs. the God who is built

The God who builds vs. the God who is built

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Ephesians 2:21 In him the whole house, united as one, grows into a temple in the Lord;

Ephesians 2:22 and in him you are also being built up, becoming the dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:12 for the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ;

1 Corinthians 3:9 for we are God’s co-workers, and you are God’s field and his building block.

1 Corinthians 3:10 I laid the foundation, as a wise foreman, according to the grace God has given me, and others are building on it; but each one must be careful how he builds on it.

1 Corinthians 3:11 for no one can lay any foundation except that which has already been laid—that is, Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:12 However, if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or stubble,

Building God

Built-into God

Meaning

God is the active Builder who works Himself into man

God allows Himself to be wrought into man as man’s constitution

Cause

(1 Cor. 3:9-10)

God as the element entering into man (John 14:20)

Explanation

The processed God enters into man to become his content

Result

The church as the Body of Christ

The new man as a mingled entity of God and man

Purpose

To build a mutual dwelling place of God and man

To become man’s life and nature (not the Godhead)

Example (Biblical)

God’s promise and building work with Abraham and David

Christ living in believers (Gal. 2:20)

Key Contrast

Outward work and activity

Inward constitution and transformation

Spiritual Vision (Core Revelation)

- God builds man as His dwelling
- New Jerusalem = God’s tabernacle (Rev. 21:3)
- God as temple for man (Rev. 21:22)

- God becomes man’s content
- Mutual indwelling (God in man, man in God)
- A corporate God-man

Critical Contrast

Work → behavior change

Wood, grass, stubble (1 Cor. 3:12)

Life → inward transformation

Gold, silver, precious stones

Biblical Cases

Job: outward perfection but lacking God within

Paul: “Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20)

David: according to God’s heart yet failed

A person must have God built within

Practical Application (Today’s Way)

Not merely preaching or teaching

Not improving behavior

Minister God Himself into people

Let God be wrought into our heart

Live Christ inwardly

Burden

Shift from outward work to inward building

Gain people constituted with God

Prophesying Guideline

Speak of Christ living in man

Prophetic Summary

God is not only building a dwelling place, but building Himself into man to become a corporate expression

Ultimate Conclusion

God is the Builder

God and man become one corporate entity

God is also the content being built in

The New Jerusalem as the ultimate consummation
