“Praying for the Brothers vs Being One with the Lord”

“Praying for the Brothers vs Being One with the Lord”

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence with which we approach him: that he hears us if we ask anything according to his will.

1 John 5:15 If we know that he hears us when we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him.

1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray for him and give him his life—even for those who commit sins that do not lead to death. But I do not say that one should pray for sins that lead to death.

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:7 But if you live in me and my words in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Romans 12:4 Just as in one body there are many members, and not all of them have the same function;

Romans 12:5 so we, all of us, in Christ, are one body, and each one a member of one another.

Item

Praying for the Brothers

Being One with the Lord

Meaning

Interceding for weak or sinning brothers so that life may be supplied to them

Abiding in the Lord, being joined to Him in spirit and in the fellowship of the divine life

Reason

Because death, weakness, and darkness may operate in believers and require the supply of life

Because man cannot pray according to God’s will apart from abiding in the Lord

Spiritual Source

The love and fellowship among members of the Body of Christ

The divine life received through regeneration and the indwelling Spirit

Illustration

Like a healthy member supplying blood to an injured member

Like branches abiding in the vine, sharing one life flow

Core Explanation

Prayer is not merely asking for outward improvement, but ministering life to others

Being one with the Lord is not outward imitation, but inward union in life

Nature of Prayer

Intercession, life-ministering, Body-centered supply

Fellowship, abiding, union, and harmony with God’s will

Way It Operates
